Animals may have a big place in humanity's heart, but, sometimes, the sheer size of the creatures that share this planet with us can be overwhelming, as evidenced by this week's news that a California man caught a 400-plus pound tuna off the coast of Baja California, Mexico. Pakicetus is a genus of extinct terrestrial carnivorous mammal of the family Pakicetidae which was endemic to Pakistan from the Eocene (55.8 ± 0.2—40 ± 0.1 Ma). Pakicetus existed for approximately 15.8 million years. Many paleontologists regard it as a close relative to the direct ancestors of modern day whales.

Biggest Mango in the World

When I wake up this morning my eyes poped-out seeing a big mango on our table, I ask people around where did it come from and they said it’s a gift from a friend of my mom-in-law from Calinan this city, they have a mango farm and they breed, cross-breed, marcot, graft different varieties of mangoes, vocabularies you often hear from people involve with this industry.

I was stunned because the night before I went to sleep I was reading Life Moto’s Blog about a report in Yahoo news runned some days back about a 3.5-kilo mango fruit from Iligan City, some 12 hours bus ride from Davao city northwards, was certified as the world’s biggest by the Guinness Book of World Records.

World’s Tallest Sand Castle.

Ed Jarrett received confirmation from Guinness World Records Wednesday that he has broken his own record building the World’s Tallest Sandcastle at Winding Trails in Farmington.

That was expected, with the castle standing at 38 feet, .75 inches on May 20 in may, based on a height survey conducted by F.A. Hesketh & Associates, Inc. of East Granby, but there was an unsuspected drop in height to 37 feet, 10 inches.


This is the third time Jarrett, director of golf and operations at Farmington Woods in Avon, has broken the record for world’s tallest sandcastle, and his second bout breaking his own record. In 2007, he built a 31-foot-6-inch sandcastle in Maine and raised over $100,000 for charity during the process. He first broke the record in 2003, also in Maine, at 29 feet, three inches, breaking Finland's record.
