Commonly known as Flying fish, scientifically known as Exocoetidae has more than 40 known species, grouped in 7 to 9 genera (families). Flying fish are commonly found in the world of tropical and subtropical oceans, where temperatures are entitled to thrive.
Flying fish have a very unique defense mechanism to escape predators. They found that the best way to avoid other fish in the water is out of the water.
Some fish can get to fly at a speed of approximately 30km/hour (20 mph) in flight and the maximum time recorded for the air was 45 seconds, filmed by an NHK television crew near the island of Yakushima (south Japan)
