The Daihatsu UFC sounds like the roughest, toughest people-mover on the planet.
The quirky bright orange concept was revealed overnight at the Indonesia international motor show in Jakarta sporting a name more commonly associated with mixed martial arts promotion company, the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
In reality, the Daihatsu’s full name is far less intimidating, with the acronym expanding to Ultra Functional Compact.
The six-seater was developed by the Japanese company’s Indonesian division, Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM), with the specific needs of the domestic market in mind.
The Daihatsu UFC features a flexible seating-position system and a long wheelbase with short front and rear overhangs designed to maximise interior space and practicality.
The rear sliding doors and the absence of B-pillars aid ease of ingress and egress for passengers while improving visibility for the driver.
ADM has revealed no details of the UFC’s powertrain.
Joining the Daihatsu UFC at the show were two micro-sized two-seat convertible concepts, the Daihatsu D-R and the Daihatsu D-X.
The yellow D-R features typical aggressive sports car styling, while the orange D-X sports a tougher stance with exaggerated grey plastic panels inspired by an SUV.
The two concepts sit on the same platform and share the same 660cc direct-injection turbocharged two-cylinder petrol engine.
Daihatsu has no plans to take any of the concepts into production.
